Learn About Advantages vs Disadvantages of Cloud Computing

Cloud is defined as a set of hardware, network, storage, applications & services combined together  to deliver different aspects of computing as a service over a network or the internet.

There are some Advantages & Disadvantages of cloud computing:

Advantages of Cloud Computing

The various advantages of cloud computing are as follow:

Cost Saving:

The most significant benefit of cloud computing it that is saves huge cost required to establish & maintain in-house server & applications.

Reliability:

This service is ore reliable as compared to the in-house server as the failure of in-house server will lead to the huge loss till it is restored back while in cloud it is quickly shifted to the other server.

Manageability:

All the required services are maintained & managed by the service provider & as a consumer we need not to worry about all these. We can simply enjoy the usage of all applications, software & services via a web interface.

Competitive Edge:

The ever increasing need of the computing resources gives an edge over the competitors, as without updating IT infrastructure, we can quickly get them from the service provider.

Data Backup & Recovery:

This service offers data backup facility on the remote server. With this we can keep all important data safely, which can be restored or recovered easily in case of data loss due to some malware attack or physical damage.

Easy access to information:

The information stored on the cloud can be accessed to view from anywhere, which gives the benefit of using data anytime, anywhere without carrying it physically on some storage device.

Disadvantages of Cloud Computing

Although, Cloud Computing has so many advantages, it also has some risk factors involved in it. These are:

Down Time:

This service is accessed via the internet only.SO if due to some reason Internet service is down, we will not be able to access any of the application or service from the cloud.

Data Security:

Although the service provider implements the best security standards to safe guard the data of its clients, but still opening the important data from the some external storage device is always given to risk. By using cloud service, we are providing access of our confidential data to the service provider, which could be a risk for the privacy of data.

Inter-portability:

Although, Cloud service providers commit the flexibility & integrity of cloud services but still it is very difficult to migrate services from one service provider to another as it can lead to inter-portability & support issue.

Limited Control:

All the cloud infrastructure is owned & managed by the service provider, it gives limited control to the user to manage applications, data & services only & not to the back-end infrastructure.
